Cal Kestis' lightsaber does something most Star Wars sabers can't: it switches between five fighting stances. He's the Jedi hero of Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, and he's canon.
Who Cal is
Cal's a Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66 and spent years in hiding before Fallen Order, which came out in 2019. Jedi: Survivor followed in 2023. The games follow him as he rebuilds his connection to the Force and takes on the Empire, and they're part of current canon. That makes Cal one of the few game characters you can bring up at a Star Wars dinner without someone saying "actually, that's Legends."
The five stances
In Jedi: Survivor Cal can use five stances, with two equipped at a time. He swaps them when he rests at a meditation point.
- Single: the classic one-blade stance.
- Dual wield: a blade in each hand.
- Double-blade: a saberstaff, handy against crowds.
- Crossguard: slow and heavy but powerful, and the one most tied to Kylo Ren's style.
- Blaster: a lightsaber with a blaster, which only recharges when you land attacks with the blade.
If the idea of different styles appeals, our guide to all seven lightsaber forms compares the traditional ones, and the hilt types guide covers the shapes.
Which Cal saber for which stance
We can't give you a hilt that physically becomes five weapons, but you can match the sabers to the stances you like best.
For the classic single blade, the Cal Kestis SE is the easy entry at $229, with an 11.8 inch hilt. It's also saberstaff compatible with a coupler, so you can turn it into a double-blade later. That's what makes it a good starter if you're not sure which stance is your favorite.
For a bigger step up, the Kestis IV is $339 with a 15.7 inch hilt. It's saberstaff compatible with a coupler too, and it includes a display stand and blade plug (not with the Baselit version). The coupler itself is a $29 add-on on the accessories page.
And for crossguard, there's the Cal Kestis Crossguard. It's the premium one at $599, with a 21.7 inch hilt and the same display stand and blade plug inclusions. All three are inspired by the character rather than being official products. Prices are current as of writing.
The rest of the lineup is in the game-inspired collection. If you plan to duel with any of them, read the best lightsaber for dueling and the safe dueling tips first.
